Home School Journey

Why Homeschool?

I have decided to Home school beginning January 2013.  I have no fear of the teaching aspect because I have an AA in Early Childhood Education and I was very close to completing my Bachelors in Elementary Education, (stopped do to raising children).  The thing that scares me most is will they appreciate what I am doing for them?  I have decided that homeschooling will best fit their needs because unfortunately I live in an area where the school system is not performing in a manner to which I am pleased.  My 6th grader is at a school where children bring weapons and illegal drugs to school frequently.  The students are obscene, vulgar and down right cruel.  Although he has made honor roll for the past two grading periods he feels that he is not learning anything.....   Since I am a stay at home mom them I need to stay at home and make sure my children get all the attention that they need.  My third grader has also been challenged in the school system.  He is ADHD and the school is not sympathetic or concerned that he has a hard time focusing especially in a school that has a high disciplinary problem.  So I begin my journey and I won't look back.

  1. How exciting!!! Saw your post on the Homeschoolers Google+ community and decided to drop by. I've been doing this for a LONG time, but I love seeing the excitement of first-timers...it puts a little "oomph" back in my day to remember how excited we were when we started. BTW, if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend the free ebook "welcome to homeschooling" put out by Time4Learning for all newbies...it's really helpful and comprehensive without being overwhelming, which is what a lot of homeschool books about getting started can be. Best of luck to you!!

  2. May God bless your homeschooling journey. I'm glad you're feeling confident, you can do this and not because you have a related degree, but because as your quote says, you can do all things through Christ!
